Print.
Print has been very intense to say the least. Something very
new and completely different to anything I have done before. I have learnt so
much in such a sort amount of time. I truly believe I can now take what I have
done from print and apply it to my next movement which is mixed media.
Objects.
This is how it kicked in to print looking at my
objects and taking as much information as possible which could then be future
motifs. ‘Motifs’ this was a word when first said thrown me of edge to then find
out it was images. Since being on print my vocabulary has improved by miles
already. I have learnt so much about myself since being on the course. I have
found that im constantly looking forward to finding out what these new words im
introduced to me mean and how I can apply them.
Whilst on print I have had to use drawing straight from the beginning
of the project and experiment with a variety of different media’s such as cutting
into black paper and using a range of different black media. At first I was over thinking drawing and trying to do something different in the way I was
drawing however soon as we had a lecture about drawing and that nothing has to
be perfect I bounced back and started to really like the motifs of my shapes I was
creating.
Gauche paints. Very new also here below is a croquis design
in which once I had completed I straight away was thinking how I could apply
this and what context it would be in and even though I was doing print straight
away I was thinking what it would look like as a painting, as material for a
item of clothing and even on a mug. However even though I really liked how this
croquis turned out the balance of colour wasn’t perfect and even though the
colours was still in my colour palette me personal thought it didn’t match the
mood in which I was going for.

When screen printing I came into it very open minded and this
shown when I came into the workshop thinking mono-print was with a rolling tool
and a bio pen to it being me using reactive die's and creating a background
which went with my colour palette. I found the reactive dies very frustrating
to figure out and found that the colour i seen by eye dark red then when
applied, steamed, and washed and it turned out pink. Tiffed off to say the
least. However im glad this happened as I now know if I was to do it next time I
would know to put more drops of red reactive die and a tad more black.
My favourite print was with the pigment die using my colour
palette and making an ombre effect as shown below
Print was different something new. Will I come back to it
however who knows?
